The urge usually arrives when the loneliness peaks, not when anything has changed. Ask what you're hoping the message produces. If the honest answer is 'for him to realise', that's not a message, that's a wish, and it won't survive contact with a reply.
Reaching out isn't weak or humiliating. It's just usually ineffective, and the cost is landing back at day one.
Write it. Don't send it. Read it tomorrow morning. Most of these don't survive daylight.
